Martha Street Studio is about to explode on May 3rd when 50 PROOF opens: an intoxicating mix of print media created by the students of the School of Art, University of Manitoba. Printmaking offers a blending of 2D and 3D realities; physical space and illusionary abstractions. How do we represent the world around us?
50 PROOF is fantasy and reality, personal stories and theoretic explorations, mythologies and folklore, perceptual and invented space, urban landscapes and rural lifestyles. Within the traditional and contemporary approaches to Etching, Screenprinting, Lithography and Relief, 50 PROOF offers the viewer a look into the many worlds of these emerging artists.
50 PROOF is an exhibition of juried work created this year in the Print room of the University of Manitoba, School of Art.
Opening night celebration will be on Monday May 3 7:00 to 10:00 pm.
The exhibition runs May 3-7.
Tuesday to Thursday. Hours are 10:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Friday. Hours are 10:00 am to 3:00 pm.

damn grrl
this summer instead of catching a ride on a boeing 747 across the ocean and basking in the heat on sand filled beaches, i will be basking in the heat of the flourescent lights of the fitzgerald building.
summer schooling would normally be dreadful, except that im kind of looking forward to both my studio classes. one being the basis for this conversation (with myself). experimental artist books, hmm.
as one of my assignments in advanced drawing with the remarkable diana thorneycroft was a nonverbal book im feeling that i may be one (half)step ahead.

if you know me even in the slightest you know that i am a cat lover.
in the morning after a few glasses (bottles) of red wine you may find remnants of youtube videos of cats being well cats on the screen of my macbook.
i just cannot seem to help it.
it could be because they clean themselves or maybe because they sleep as much as i do or maybe even because they like to sit/sleep/eat inside of weirdly clostraphobic type spaces.
BUT
there is one thing about cats that i cannot/willnot/never be able to get on the so-called kitten (caboodle) bandwagon with and that is cat portraits.
